Madill, OK – After receiving initial treatment at another hospital, one local patient found comfort, support, and a smooth recovery closer to home—thanks to the transitional care program at AllianceHealth Madill.
Herman Lawson was first admitted to another local hospital for a non-critical condition that required inpatient care. Once able, he transferred to AllianceHealth Madill to continue recovery through the hospital’s transitional care program, which offers skilled nursing and rehabilitative services in a hospital setting.
“This was my first inpatient experience at AllianceHealth Madill and I was pleased by how well this program fit my needs and the quality of care I received,” said Lawson. “It meant being closer to home, in a quiet and caring environment where I felt truly supported every day.”
Transitional care programs are designed for patients who no longer need acute hospital care but still require short-term skilled services, such as physical, occupational and speech therapy, IV medications or wound care. For patients like Lawson, it offers a bridge between hospitalization and returning home — with personalized attention and continuity of care.
“Admission to our transitional care unit, also known as swing bed, is seamless,” said Lisa Vowels, admissions coordinator at AllianceHealth Madill. “We work closely with referring facilities to make sure patients continue receiving the right care in a setting that promotes healing and comfort.”
While at AllianceHealth Madill, Lawson received daily therapy and skilled nursing care tailored to his individual recovery goals. Thanks to the supportive care team, he made steady progress and was ultimately discharged home feeling confident and well-prepared.
“The staff treated me and my wife like family,” Lawson shared. “They encouraged me, listened to me, and made sure I had everything I needed. The entire team was a true blessing, and the food was amazing.”
